"Meaghan has been a clinician at our adult residential camp for the past few years. She is very good with adults. Her knowledge of rider balance in motion is peerless. She brings fresh ideas and exercises. She makes each of us feel like we can ride up to her standards. Both her riding and training are excellent. She is a professional, though she always brings a smile and cheer to work with each of us."
“As a student she was very competitive and always strived for the best grades. She made every effort to understand and fully grasp the course material. Meaghan stood out among her classmates and she always had questions and comments. She is never afraid to challenge a theory or statement and has proven to be a driven individual with clear career goals. There are rare occasions when a single undergraduate level student is able to leave their footprint and bring the program to a higher level. Meaghan was able to do this.”
“Meaghan drove my horses from one end of Europe to the other—Cannes (FRA), Hagen (GER), Lyon (FRA) and Den Bosch (NED)—arriving after long stretches to set up at horse shows and prepare the horses for the competition. Meaghan has an open and friendly approach to people and situations. She enjoys her work and her life and is an easy travel companion.”
“I would like to state that Meaghan is one of the most talented individuals that I have ever had the pleasure to teach and interact with. She has outstanding analytical skills, solid communication skills, and relates well with co-workers and clients. She is very motivated and driven in all aspects of her professional and personal life. She exhibits a quiet confidence in her abilities and excels at any and all tasks she undertakes. Her character and integrity are very strong in all aspects of her life.”
“Meaghan is a serious young rider. She has already made many sacrifices to get the education she feels she needs to even attempt becoming a good professional. Investing in such a dedicated and hard-working young person is an opportunity and a privilege. Few have the deep interest, desire, and fortitude that Meaghan has so clearly shown already for many years”
“I can think of very few that posses the broad range of academic and social credentials that are embodied in Meaghan Byrne. She is a person of character and integrity that is poised, focused, and intelligent.”
“From my experience with Meaghan, she has totally committed herself to succeeding in the equestrian world while maintaining focus on her career and academic pursuits. With her decision to relocate to Germany to deepen her already excellent knowledge of Dressage and all equine matter, one can see that Meaghan has a clearly defined goal and that she is willing to make the necessary sacrifices by relocating to a foreign country and leaving behind her familiar surroundings to fervently pursue her dream. She is a very outgoing, open minded person who fit perfectly with our existing team. She is a hard worker who gives 100% at all times. She is curious and strives to understand all of the details and how everything works. With her quick grasp and her energy, she can apply what she has learned immediately; whether in the saddle or in the stable.”
Meaghan owns MTB Dressage, a dressage training, instruction, and competition business serving southern Virginia and the Triad area of North Carolina. Her property in Browns Summit, NC serves as her home base and Meaghan travels to several clients as well. In addition, from 2012-2015 Meaghan was an Equestrian Associate and dressage trainer at Averett University in Danville, VA and is presently Assistant Professor of Business Administration. Meaghan herself earned an MBA and a BS in Business Finance, magna cum laude from Averett University.
As a dressage trainer, Meaghan emphasizes kindness and patience. She enjoys developing young horses with the goal of FEI competition. As an instructor, Meaghan helps her students find a harmonious partnership with their horses. Her passionate and creative approach enables riders to surpass old limitations. In addition to a large amateur clientele, Meaghan has worked with several young riders and para-equestrian, Donna Ponessa, whom she coached to a second place finish at the 2011 Dressage Affaire CPEDI3 in Del Mar, CA.
